Wheatley Care is entering an exciting new chapter.

Transitioning to independence from Wheatley Group, we are shaping a bold future as a modern, values-led care provider. For over 40 years, Wheatley Care has been a sector-leading organisation, delivering personalised care and support across Scotland. Everything we do is rooted in dignity, respect, and the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to live well.

Our mission is simple and powerful: to help people live life to the fullest by building their capacity to thrive and achieve their potential.

This newly created, pivotal role within Wheatley Care’s Senior Management Team reports to the Chief Executive and works closely with the Board. As Director of Finance & HR, you will shape our future by strengthening governance, enhancing financial resilience, supporting sustainable growth, and championing a values-led, high-performing workforce.

You will establish a forward-looking, organisation-wide approach to risk management, build Board and Executive confidence through robust assurance and financial modelling, and drive continuous improvement in financial performance, efficiency, and value for money. Working closely with the Chief Executive, Executive Team, and Board, you will ensure financial insight, workforce considerations, and organisational risk are fully integrated into Wheatley Care’s new Strategic Plan.

You will be a qualified accountant with a proven track record in strategic financial management, planning, control, and risk. You bring excellent communication and problem-solving skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the credibility to operate effectively at Executive and Board level.

While experience leading an HR function is advantageous, it is not essential; what matters most is your ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams, foster high-performing cultures, and deliver results aligned with the organisation’s values.

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a respected social care organisation at a defining moment in its evolution. As Director of Finance & HR, you will directly influence our strategic direction, help build a resilient independent organisation, and ensure we remain true to our mission of delivering outstanding care and support across Scotland.

Wheatley Care’s offers a hybrid and flexible working environment. The successful candidate will be expected to work from the office (Strathclyde Business Park) c.3 days per week.

If interested in a confidential discussion, please contact retained advisor Douglas Adam at [email protected]. You can also find the full profile below for review.

Wheatley Care is always looking to improve diversity within our teams. We want to create an inclusive environment where everyone can contribute their best work and achieve their full potential. We actively celebrate our individual differences and recognise the collective strength this brings the organisation. It’s important our teams represent the communities we serve, and we welcome applications from any under-represented groups.
