Director of Financial Shared Services – International PE backed – Glasgow (hybrid working) – c£100,000 to 120,000 plus an Executive Benefits Package

This is an exciting time as the highly successful private equity backed business is very much on the acquisition trail to support its growth ambitions to take from revenues of £500m to £800m-£1b over the next few years. Underpinning this projected growth is a highly fragmented market in the region, and the company is positioning itself as a key consolidator.

The Director of Financial Shared Services will be a key member of the Senior Finance Management Team and be responsible for managing the day-to-day transactional activity across the region, ensuring efficient processes, accurate transactional records and professional project support.

The individual will also be responsible for overseeing and managing the transactional finance teams, ensuring an excellent service is provided across the business. In addition, the role will require providing and managing specialist support for transformational projects across the region.

The postholder will be an astute leader with particularly proficient personnel and project management skills. A solid accounting background will be essential which displays a commitment to continuous improvement and streamlining of processes to deliver the best results for both internal and external customers and suppliers. This role will be pivotal in building a best practice finance structure as the business continues to grow.

Principal responsibilities will include:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to the managers of the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Banking teams to ensure they effectively lead their respective teams and meet departmental goals and objectives
  • Provide leadership and guidance on transformational projects across the region to standardise operations, drive new technologies and implement new systems
  • Build and develop a new reporting team to support growing data analysis needs and to drive best practice in budgeting, forecasting and performance analysis across the region
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize financial operations, improve efficiency, reduce error and enhance controls within these teams
  • Ensure transactional processes meet business expectations and deadlines, maintaining accuracy
  • Ensure robust and efficient processes and clear communications with suppliers
  • Keep all subsidiary ledgers up to date and address outstanding balances promptly and effectively

The business is seeking a high calibre professionally qualified accountant. Ideally, the incoming Director of Financial Shared Services will have previous experience of other PE backed businesses so they have an intuitive understanding of the levels of pace, resilience, energy and drive for results required to be successful in this environment. An understanding of a similar multi-site, internationally focused business environment would be highly desirable.

Key areas of experience and knowledge required include:

  • Experience of managing a Finance Shared Service Centre or large finance function supporting multiple legal entities
  • A solid accounting background with a keen understanding of controls
  • Proven experience in managing teams with a hands-on approach
  • Advanced IT skills for effective analysis and reporting
  • Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable and treasury processes
  • Ability to simplify complex financial processes and delver standardised solutions
  • Ability to suggest and develop innovative solutions to complex business issues

On offer is a fantastic financial package including a salary of c£100-£120k, attractive annual bonus, 5% employer pension contribution and private medical cover. The business also operates a very flexible hybrid working policy.
