Livingston James is delighted to partner with Optos to appoint a new Group Finance Director. Optos was founded with a powerful mission: to revolutionise retinal imaging after a missed diagnosis left its founder’s young son blind in one eye. Now part of Nikon Co. Ltd, Japan, and approaching 30 years of innovation, Optos is a global leader in ultra-widefield retinal imaging.

Optos’ devices—including the optomap®, Monaco, and Silverstone—offer unparalleled 200° views of the retina in a single capture and integrate advanced OCT technology. Used worldwide, they support early detection and management of serious conditions such as glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration. With millions of patients helped and over 2,900 supporting clinical studies, Optos continues to shape the future of eye care.

Optos is now seeking a Group Finance Director to lead and manage the Group’s finance and accounting function. Reporting to the CFO, this senior leadership role is responsible for the preparation of Group financial information, budgeting, forecasting, and monthly submissions to the parent company via DIVA. The role also leads group-level projects, manages consolidated and management accounts, oversees audits and J-SOX compliance, and takes ownership of Group tax and accounting standards implementation. Risk management and internal controls fall within the remit, as well as cross-business collaboration at a senior level.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or CA) with strategic finance experience. They should have a strong background in statutory accounting, tax compliance, and IFRS, with US GAAP knowledge being advantageous. Experience leading remote teams and managing global projects is essential, along with a commercially focused, hands-on approach.

Candidates will have operated at Director or Group Controller level within a complex international business and be adept at managing deadlines and priorities. Strong systems skills, including advanced Excel and ideally a consolidation tool, are important, in addition to excellent communication and influencing skills. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is key.

If you are excited by the opportunity, we would love to hear from you. Please follow the link below to view the role profile or contact Mark Lewis at [email protected] to apply.

Any direct applications or third-party introductions to Optos will be forwarded to Livingston James for consideration.
