The Care Inspectorate is Scotland’s independent scrutiny, assurance and improvement body for social care and social work. The organisation directly impacts lives, ensuring care that respects rights, dignity and wellbeing. The Care Inspectorate’s vision is that everyone in Scotland, in every community, experiences high-quality care, support and learning, tailored to their rights, needs and wishes.

The Executive Director of Corporate Services is a pivotal leadership role at a significant time for the organisation and the wider care sector. You will provide strategic and operational leadership across corporate services, including finance, people, legal, governance and business support, driving transformation, continuous improvement and strong foundations for sustainable, high-quality care.

As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will foster cross-functional collaboration, develop external partnerships, and ensure excellence, efficiency and innovation while maintaining robust governance, financial sustainability and a culture that empowers its workforce.

We are looking for a values-driven, forward-thinking leader with a proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams in complex organisations, managing significant budgets, and delivering sustainable transformational change. You will have experience in developing resource strategies, policies and frameworks, and be an accomplished communicator able to build trusted relationships, challenge thinking constructively, and translate vision into effective strategies.

This role offers a rare opportunity to make a genuine difference, shaping care that matters for individuals, families and communities across Scotland. Whilst the Care Inspectorate is headquartered in Dundee, the postholder may be based in Edinburgh or Glasgow, with travel to Dundee as required.

If you are motivated by purpose, thrive in complexity, and want to shape the future of an organisation that plays a vital role in Scottish society, please contact Douglas Adam at Livingston James, the Care Inspectorate’s retained recruitment partner: [email protected].

The Care Inspectorate is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status or pregnancy and maternity.
