Clyde Blowers Capital is a firm with remarkable tale of entrepreneurial transformation.

Starting its journey in 1992 where potential was seen in a small company situated in Glasgow. The firm was bought and transformed from being the smallest operating in its market segment to a portfolio of companies, resulting in several being ranked top three in the world in their specific markets just little over a decade later.

This entrepreneurial flair and commitment to operational excellence has laid the foundation for further periods of change to allow companies to strike out in new directions.

The team has enjoyed a long history of actively managing engineering companies from operational positions since 1992 when Jim McColl led a management buy in of Clyde Blowers plc. The team’s first buyout investment being made when Clyde Blowers plc was subsequently taken private in 1999; a joint investment with 3i. Since then, the team has continued the strategy of investing through buyouts and controlling positions with a consistent record of success, investing over £700m since 1999.

The team has expanded since 1999 and now comprises 35 people based in Glasgow and Beijing and includes operational, investment management, finance, tax and legal groups. CBC’s vision is simple, to invest in mid-sized engineering companies and to work closely with these firms to transform them into global market leaders in their specific fields.

Continuing with theme of entrepreneurial transformation, iconic businessman Jim McColl is now looking to further add to his exceptionally talented team of investment professionals. A crucial hire to add to the firm’s profitability and advancement. The requirement is for an Investment Associate Director.

This role presents a rare offering within the Scottish market, demanding exceptional leadership skills and technical competences of an entrepreneurial investment professional. A genuine passion to achieve operational excellence and ability to think creatively around company advancement and future investment is imperative.
