Last year, we carried out a research project to investigate the ‘Future CEO’ in association with EY. Following the success of the inaugural report, we’ve decided to carry out this research annually and are now looking for leaders to take part in our 2025 survey.

We create the most value for our markets when we work collaboratively with our current and prospective customers, and we’d love your input with this 5-minute online survey.

This year’s survey is now live, and we are seeking responses from leaders across all sectors and functions in the UK to build a full picture of what the most important characteristics will be for the CEO of the future. The survey will also highlight key areas for development to allow leaders to progress to CEO, as well as identifying challenges and opportunities for succession planning.

With technology and artificial intelligence continuing to evolve – bringing with it powerful tools, insights and associated ethical and strategic challenges – we have added a few extra questions this year relating to AI.

Your individual responses will remain confidential and anonymous, and your feedback will form part of a report which we’ll share with our networks.

With a new government, budget constraints, geopolitical and supply chain risks, and the continuation of talent shortages combined with the evolution of technology, the current CEO doesn’t need to look far for challenges. With this in mind, what do you think are going to be the key characteristics for the CEO of the future?

What did we uncover last year? In essence, the traditional playbook has evolved. The qualities that led to CEO success in the past are no longer adequate. The environment in which CEOs operate is undergoing a fundamental shift, rendering some traditional leadership approaches obsolete. This impacts what CEOs need to accomplish, how they go about it, and what essential characteristics are required for success in this new era.

A full copy of last year’s report can be accessed and downloaded on our CEO Services page.

The route to CEO may be changing and we look forward to hearing your thoughts. If you have any questions at all about this research project or survey, please contact [email protected].
