Livingston James Case Study – Marie Curie Shops Challenge

Marie Curie Shops Challenge

Supporting our communities has long been a part of the Livingston James Group ethos.  From running annual physical challenges to raise money for charities, or offering our staff volunteer days to use with organisations close to their own hearts, we choose to use our time to make a difference for others.

In 2019 the Livingston James Group took on a new type of charity challenge, teaming up with Marie Curie to take part in the organisation’s Marie Curie Shops Challenge – a fantastic way to combine team building with volunteering.

Five teams from across the Group spent the day in Marie Curie shops around Glasgow helping to sort, show, and sell donated items, many of which had been donated by LJG colleagues.

The teams were encouraged to engage in some friendly competition to raise as much as possible for their assigned store.

Thanks to their creative efforts, and those of the fantastic Marie Curie shop volunteers, we helped to raise funds that will pay for over 360 hours of Marie Curie nursing care.

Georgina Bushell, Partnerships Manager a Marie Curie said; “We were delighted to welcome Livingston James Group staff to our shops across Glasgow – as well as the fantastic amount raised, their feedback on what a positive experience they had was wonderful to receive. Every penny raised helps Marie Curie to continue supporting people with a terminal illness, providing expert nursing care in the place of their choice.”

Livingston James Group CEO Jamie Livingston said: “Impacting lives and communities for the better underpins everything we do, from matching candidates and companies to mutual benefit, to encouraging our colleagues to take part in activities that are important to them, and benefiting charitable organisations that support those most in need.  A huge thanks to all those working with Marie Curie, from the nurses and volunteers, to those working behind the scenes, who allowed us to be part of their organisation for the day.”
