Livingston James are delighted to be supporting Samaritans to identify their new Executive Director for Scotland.

Samaritans is a unique charity dedicated to reducing feelings of isolation and disconnection that can lead to suicide. Every six seconds they respond to calls for help, and as a charity they work to make sure there’s always someone there for anyone who needs someone.

To ensure Samaritans delivers on its policy and advocacy strategy, they are now looking to recruit into the critical role of Executive Director for Scotland. This role will provide the opportunity to work at a national level and influence policymakers and practitioners to bring about change in mental health, social care and in public policy; ultimately achieving the Samaritans’ vision of reducing the risk of suicide in Scotland.

As the Ambassador of the charity in Scotland, you will be focused on developing and maintaining effective relationships with all key stakeholders in Scotland, raising awareness of Suicide and its impact on society, and effectively contributing and influencing the policy and legislation landscape.

With extensive experience working at a senior level in a Public Relations or Policy role, the successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate a proven track record of raising an organisation’s public profile and evidence of building and managing relationships with key policy makers, public bodies and key stakeholders in Scotland. An accomplished communicator, you will have instant credibility when engaging with both internal and external stakeholders and bring high levels of energy and resilience and a commitment to the Samaritan’s core values, vision and purpose.

Samaritans is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religion or belief, marital status or pregnancy and maternity.
