Human Performance Workshop with Leon Smith, GB Davis Cup Captain and Head of Men’s Tennis

The Livingston James team was proud to host a human performance workshop in partnership with Leon Smith, GB Davis Cup Captain and Head of Men’s Tennis. This interactive virtual workshop was enjoyed by local business leaders and centred around the importance of recognising and empowering elite performance.

For businesses, there is a whole new set of macroeconomic factors driving the need to focus on people. We are in the midst of the fourth industrial revolution, where rapid digitisation and evolving technologies are fusing with demographic shifts, lower barriers to entry, evolving business models and consumer expectations, all producing an ever-accelerating rate of change. With this change comes a reduction in the time it takes a business to succeed or fail, and therefore a need for a more productive, agile, and high-performing workforce.

Chatham House rules apply however, discussion centred around key themes:

  • The evolution of leadership in periods of signification transformation
  • The qualities which set ‘good’ leaders apart from ‘great’ leaders
  • Striking the balance between objective and subjective decision making when it comes to hiring elite talent – data vs intuition
