The Livingston James team had a brilliant evening last month co-hosting an event alongside Scottish Cycling and Edrington.
Huge thanks to the Edrington team for hosting us so well – the cocktails and mocktails were exceptional – and to everyone who joined us for what became a really insightful discussion around resilience, leadership, major events and the opportunity ahead for Scotland.
A particular highlight was hearing from Jack Carlin, who brought along his Olympic medals and spoke openly about mindset, resilience and the realities behind elite performance. His honesty and humility made a real impression on the room.
We also heard from Nick Rennie, CEO of Scottish Cycling, who shared exciting insight into what lies ahead for Scotland with both the 2026 Commonwealth Games and the 2027 Tour de France Grand Départ.
The scale of opportunity for Scottish business is significant. The Tour de France Grand Départ alone is expected to deliver major economic impact, international visibility and increased tourism, while also creating a lasting participation and social impact legacy across communities. The Scottish Government has committed up to £9.25m towards the event, including a dedicated £1m social impact programme designed to ensure long-term benefits for people and communities across Scotland.
If any businesses are interested in exploring partnership, engagement or wider opportunities linked to Scottish Cycling and these landmark events, feel free to reach out and we’d be delighted to make an introduction.
Another standout contribution came from Theresa Shearer FRSE, in her role as Non-Executive Director and Chair of the EDI Committee for 2026 Commonwealth Games. Theresa spoke powerfully about the social impact ambitions behind Glasgow 2026, creating a more inclusive, accessible and community-driven Games model that leaves a meaningful legacy beyond sport itself. Glasgow 2026 has positioned itself as “a new kind of Games”, focused on access, inclusion, sustainability and long-term community benefit.
With the Commonwealth Games returning to Glasgow and the Tour de France Grand Départ coming to Edinburgh in 2027, Scotland has a remarkable opportunity over the next few years, not just from a sporting perspective, but economically and more importantly, a social impact.
